South of Market Shirt
From the 1987 Fall Holiday Catalogue: “San Francisco is a city of neighborhoods, and ours–the old warehouse district known as South of Market (Street)–has evolved into SoHo West. It’s anything but a three-piece scene, so when we head for work (down the wind-whipped alley under the freeway) we’re likely to wear this shirt: businesslike of hue but expansive of cut and cozy of cloth. It takes to a tie if we must go north for a button-down lunch; otherwise it’s found with sleeves rolled up, wielding pen or paintbrush in the loft-y brick office we call headquarters.”
