Australian Cowhide Outback Jacket
This is the earliest, rarest item I can think of seeing in a long time. The Australian Cowhide OUTBACK Jacket was seen in the Holiday 1983 Catalogue #16, and then in the Fall/Holiday 1984 catalogues.
From the catalogue: “The Outback is a rugged land. The cold there is snappy, and it calls for a jacket that can snap back and take a lot of abuse. The Australian Cowhide Outback Jacket, a rust-color of the Outback itself, is made from first quality hides lined with a hunter’s green blanket wool, crowned by a corduroy collar. Two roomy hand pockets and a zipper-shut pocket at the left breast. We’ve seen this jacket repel brambles, thorns, everything but Aboriginal arrows. Which is why we can personally guarantee that it earns more character with every year it does its job. In the unlikely event that the worst abuse puts it in need of repair, simply ship it back and we’ll repair it free for the life of the jacket.”
