Andes Shirt
The Cotton Flannel Andes Shirt from the Fall and Holiday 1986 Catalogue: “In the Andes, one is rarely comfortable except when the sun is shining,” claimed the American explorer Hiram Bingham, who in the winter of 1911 journeyed up the Urubamba River to discover Machu Picchu. Had Mr. Bingham worn our Andes Shirt on that outing, he would have returned with warmer memories. Made of cushiony cotton flannel, it’s brushed both inside and out; the nap that arises as a result traps warmth and feels sublime. We equipped it with tailored bellows pockets to hold the implements of exploration, but it’s equally at home in front of un grande fugo.”
