Sold in the 1984 catalogs, these posters showcasing catalogue covers are really wonderful collectibles that appear now and then on eBay. Advertised were catalogs 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21, but I also came across one from catalog #22, presumably sold in stores.
My copy of the African Safari poster was signed by Patrica and Mel at their book signing in fall of 2013. It’s one of my treasures.
Robyn's fascination with Banana Republic began in 1984 when her Alaskan adventurer father began buying the clothing and giving her the catalogs. She loved the clothes and as an artist she was drawn to the illustrations. She went on to study illustration at art college in BR's hometown of San Francisco and worked for years as a background artist for animation. She is now based in Oakland, CA as a graphic designer and illustrator with Secret Fan Base . She's been collecting and archiving at Abandoned Republic since 2011.

I own a poster of the cover of catalogue #21 (Holiday 1984). It is a different cover than the posters above. I bought it in a store- if I remember correctly it was in Dallas in about 1988. (Love your website!). – Jonathan
