The Leather Walking Skirt
The Leather Walking Skirt was offered in the Fall and Winter catalogs in both 1986 and 1987. From the catalogue: “Unpacking in a strange hotel room, what could be more inspiriting than to find some cherished bit of luxurt among the knits and khakis? Our leather Walking Skirt, made of New Zealand lambskin, turns storm-tossed wayfarer into woman of the world, ready to take on tea with the ambassador or negotiations with the chairman. With our rayon Chanteuse Shirt (page 50) it sits gracefully at the opera; with a warm sweater, it hikes happily on the moors. Yet it weighs just 14 ounces and is replete with functional flourishes: 14-inch vents in front and back, coin pocket, satiny full lining.”
It also pairs well with the Amelia Earhart jacket, obviously. Throw in the leather flying helmet and Army Air Force scarf and you can play as hard to get as the legend herself!
Peggy McGovern rendered the stunning illustration of the skirt and jacket as well as the portrait of Amelia seen on this page. View her professional page at www.PMagovern.com
