Patricia and Mel Ziegler sent a box of treasures for Abandoned Republic! Here’s a very geeky video of me opening the “Mysterious Box From Mill Valley”. Unbelievably cool stuff is inside!!

Robyn Adams
Robyn's fascination with Banana Republic began in 1984 when her Alaskan adventurer father began buying the clothing and giving her the catalogs. She loved the clothes and as an artist she was drawn to the illustrations. She went on to study illustration at art college in BR's hometown of San Francisco and worked for years as a background artist for animation. She is now based in Oakland, CA as a graphic designer and illustrator with Secret Fan Base . She's been collecting and archiving at Abandoned Republic since 2011.

“Historian of the Republic”, yes indeed! A distinguished title, well deserved. Of course, Robyn, this needs to be on a tee shirt for you. Thank-you for sharing this unboxing with all of us — and, I can’t wait to see what comprises the stack of ephemera…postcards? Early catalogues? Stationery? Shopping list??
I blog often and I seriously appreciate your information.
This article has really peaked my interest.
I’m going to book mark your blog and keep checking for new information about once a week.
I subscribed to your RSS feed too.
For the longest time I kept a purple Rhinoceros “gift box” BR used which my wife used to wrap a pair of Sorel snow boots for me. It was a big 3-D box that stood on legs and the cut-out face a horns would go in the front. Alas we severely downsized our house and away it went. I would have sent it to you had I known about your webpage then.
