Correspondent’s Skirt
There’s the famous Correspondent’s Jacket, Correspondent’s Bag, Correspondent’s Dress and now, in the Spring 1986 catalogue, the Correspondent’s Skirt. “Female members of the working press must dress for the practical demands of the job as well as for situations that require more finesse. Our Correspondent’s Skirt offers a neat compromise: slim and flattering, it’s also as cannily constructed as a press conference question. Deep cargo pockets hold notebooks, Polaroids, and press pass; buttoned bellows pockets expand to carry business cards, pencils, extra film, packets of instant coffee. Two more pockets in back keep lunch receipts, messages from editors and long-distance bills safely out of sight. Fore and aft are deep pleats to expedite pursuit of slippery sources. Most reasonably priced, in three no-nonsense neutrals, this skirt covers everything from a coup d’etat to a state dinner.”
