Fisherman’s Sweater
Running from Holiday 1985 through Holiday 1987 in a number of colors.
From the Holiday 1986 catalogue: “We’ve always admired the intricate cables of the Irish fisherman’s sweater–mythic patterns with sould in every stitch. Yet when all’s said and done, every fisherman’s sweater we’ve ever owned seems to have been made for the North Sea, or even the North Pole: too hot, too heavy for most activities and seasons. We were frankly at sea until we made out own version of this handsome old classic. It has all the flavor of the original–richly cabled as it is on the front, back, and sleeves–but only a fraction of the heft. Indeed, our blend of 55% linen and 45% cotton is comfortable almost anywhere: under a blazer, over a bush shirt–or, we hasten to add, at the helm.”
