Nairobi Business Shirt

From the Summer 1986 catalogue: “Cuffs would constrict, ties would torture, pinstripes seem priggish in summertime Nairobi, where offices more like ovens open onto sizzling streets and baking byways. Yet commerce must be conducted here, as in more temperate seasons, cooly and correctly–with the provision that one’s collar at all times remain open for business. For such working environments, we suggest a different style of business shirt: loose-fitting, short-sleeved, suitable for wear with one’s business shorts. (And quite adaptable, we feel, for tropical traveling.) We’ve made it in 100% cotton, woven so loosely that breezes blow through it, pre-washed for softness, and striped not in the workaday way but with equatorial ease.”
